Multiplication Facts-Volley as long as you can, skip counting by a number that they need work on. For example, hit the ball back and forth saying, “6, 12, 18, 24, 30…”.
Addition and Multiples-The server swaps every multiple of 5 points, so as you are playing with your child, keep track of the sum together. For example, if you have 7 points and your child has 8 points, say this: “Seven to eight with a sum of 15. 15 is a multiple of 5, so it’s your serve.” You can say this the first few times, and then ask them to give the sum every several turns as they can handle it.
Practicing Spanish-Keep score in Spanish. Say the score every turn, with the server saying their score first.
Incentive-After completing each subject of homework, I’ll play you a round of ping pong!
(Of course if they get an attitude, nip it in the bud with a quick consequence, and move on with life. For example, say, “No more ping pong. Mate socks 5 minutes.”) Remember to keep it fun, and SMILE!!!
